NASCAR Goes Green?

For years enivronmentalists have bitched and moaned NASCAR. The cars used in the sport usually get from 3 to 5 miles per gallon so naturally its not their favorite. However, in the spring of 2010 Pennsylvania’s Pocono Raceway will open its own solar energy plant (estimated to cost $15-17 million to build) to power the track and sell the excess energy produced to surrounding companies.

On a sidenote, this plan was conceived because deregulation was going to drive the track’s electric bill up 40%. Who said people can’t change?
